With a variety of fixed-blade knives, folding knives, and more, Spartan Blades is a great company that we’re proud to offer at DNK. Want to add one to your collection but not sure which one to choose? Here are our picks so you can be sure you’re getting a knife you’re proud of.

About Spartan Blades

Before we get into our picks, let’s go over what you need to know about Spartan Blades.

Founded by Curtis Iovito and Mark Carey, this company crafts professional outdoor and everyday carry cutlery. While they came from “humble beginnings” (their words, not ours), they are determined to make finely crafted knives in their headquarters in Southern Pines, NC. Their knives are designed with meticulous processes, the best materials, and above all, care – that winds up in knives that are purposely designed for the task and environment. You never have to question the quality when you have one of their knives in your collection.

Now that we’ve gotten a little into the company, it’s time to share our favorite picks from the brand.

Top Picks

Ares

Son of Zeus and Hera, Ares is the Greek god of war, battlelust, and courage. He embodies physical valor to win war, but also personifies sheer brutality. This no-nonsense knife named after the God of war is fitting, as it’s built for heavy use in the field and is truly the ideal fighting knife.

The knife has a 5.375” long blade with a spear point shape and a long top false edge clip, a handle that is full tang and comfortable, and the blade is ready for carry thanks to its Kydex lined, black nylon MOLLE sheath. We should also mention this knife was engineered both for and with the input of various US Special Operation Forces and other government agencies. So, in short: this knife was handcrafted to be a beast. If you’re looking for a high-quality knife that will serve you well for years to come, you’ve found it in the Ares.

Enyo

From the Greek god of war, we move on to the Greek goddess of war. Enyo often accompanies Ares into battle, but this knife named after her can certainly hold its own and is the perfect everyday carry companion knife. It can be carried in your pocket, waistband, or around your neck.

This knife is designed for daily cutting tasks and is always ready to assist you. Thanks to its fixed drop-point design, the strength of the blade is carried forward into the tip. Whatever situation you find yourself in, the Enyo is ready to go.

Horkos

If you know anything about ancient Greeks, honor was incredibly important to them. So important, that in Greek mythology, the figure of Horkos personifies the curse that will be inflicted on any person who swears a false oath. This combat knife was commissioned by the Combat Weapons Team of the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY, to honor their graduating class and the oath they take.

While it may be in dedication to the graduates of West Point, this knife is designed as an excellent all-around combat and utility knife perfect for any collection. It’s intended to see its user through all types of situations and is crafted with reliability, durability, and functionality in mind.

Phrike

Catching the theme with naming here? It’s just another reason why we like Spartan Blades. This self-defense knife is named after Phrike, the goddess of horror and fear. The word “phrike” literally means “tremor, shivering.”

The coated CPM-S45VN blade measures in at 4.25”, but despite its smaller size, it is an imposing blade. The handle, while being simplistic, is remarkably ergonomic and comfortable. And being small and lightweight means it’s perfect to carry for self-defense and bushcraft.

Pallas

Pallas was the Titan god of battle and warcraft, a fitting name for this titan of a knife.

It comes outfitted with a robust 5/32” thick CPM S45VN steel blade, set on alpha bearing, and opens with a simple flick of the thumb stud or flipper tab. This blade isn’t just practical, it’s also incredibly durable. Trust us when we say that you’d be hard-pressed to find a better flipper folding knife out there.
